How Blessed is the Man…

Psalms 1:1-6 (NASB95)
1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.
This morning, an old friend of mine posted a life verse. I don’t know that I have a single life verse. The whole book of Psalms is pretty much my guiding part of scripture, and Psalm 1 is a good introduction to the Psalms. “How blessed is the man…” My life does reflect this verse. I have been blessed as I study and meditate on the word of the Lord and I have prospered like the tree by the stream of water. The Lord is Good and His mercies are everlasting. Great is His faithfulness!
Of course, then the capstone to the Psalms is Psalm 150, the great hallelujah. When you have done all and been all that you can be, all that is left for the blessed man is to praise the Lord. When all is said and done, the only thing that matters is praising the Lord. We were created to worship the Lord, and the ultimate blessing is to be able to join that great choir in heaven and sing praises to the Lord for all eternity. Hallelujah!
Psalms 150:1-6 (NASB95)
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him accordingto His excellent greatness.
3 Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre.
4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!
